L'OFFICIEL Tries the Skinscape Combination Laser-Peel

We trialed the Skinscape Clinic's Combination Laser-Peel — one treatment that targets pigmentation, dull skin, active acne, unwanted facial hair and more. Read on to find out how our skin looked after a week of treatment.

On the cusp of turning 40, I had a few visible freckles and sunspots that built up gradually on my face — even though I'd like to think that I apply sunscreen rather religiously. And though I had been meaning to get a Pico Laser treatment booked, I didn't quite manage to find the time to do so in the past few months. So when Skinscape Clinic invited L'OFFICIEL SINGAPORE to try out its Skinscape Combination Laser-Peel earlier this month, with the promise that the clinic's "Dr. Harvey Ho assesses each patient's skin condition and meticulously selects two lasers for the session ensuring personalised and effective results", I thought: Perfect, no more excuses then.
As its name suggests, the Combination Laser-Peel utilises different laser technologies and a gentle peel to address various skin concerns. As I quickly learnt: Sun spots, freckles, dull skin, active acne, redness and thread veins, and even unwanted facial hair can be targeted in a session of under an hour, and with minimal discomfort and downtime (two to four days) too. With multiple treatments, the Combination Laser-Peel also stimulates collagen production to gradually improve the appearance of fine lines, pores and acne.

The different lasers that can be chosen include Pico Laser (for pigmentation and skin rejuvenation); Clarity Long-Pulsed Laser (to brighten skin, tighten pores, reduce redness, clear up residual pigments, target active acne, and control oil secretion); and Erbium Glass Laser (for gentle skin resurfacing, stimulating collagen, evening out skin texture, tightening pores and improving scars and wrinkles). The Jessner's peel ends off the treatment, helping with pigment reduction and collagen synthesis. Dr. Ho explained that the rejuvenating effects of the Skinscape Combination Laser-Peel have proven to be greater than the sum of its parts.

About a week has passed since the treatment and the results on my face are visible. A rather large and visible freckle under my left eye, which used to bug me so, is no longer there — it darkened after the treatment and has since cleared completely. Other less obvious sunspots and freckles around my cheek area have also darkened and subsequently cleared. Dr. Ho was also able to target ingrown hairs along my jawline — literally going to the root of the problem by destroying those hair follicles. The process was quick and relatively pain-free — no surprise then that I'm already thinking of going back for another round of laser hair removal on my face.
