This year, July has unexpectedly become celebrity divorce season. This of course leaves the biggest question: why?
The couple sent a joint statement <a href="https://pagesix.com/2023/07/17/sofia-vergara-and-joe-manganiello-separate-after-7-years-of-marriage/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">to Page Six</a> saying, "We have made the difficult decision to divorce. As two people that love and care for one another very much, we politely ask for respect of our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives."
An anonymous source gives additional insight <a href="https://pagesix.com/2023/07/17/sofia-vergara-and-joe-manganiello-separate-after-7-years-of-marriage/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">to Page Six</a> about the situation, stating, "Sof&iacute;a and Joe have been growing apart for a while now and are taking some distance from each other to contemplate their future."

Alarms were going off went <a href="https://www.instagram.com/sofiavergara/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;ig_rid=9ac00bb6-4515-43ed-9a4c-4faa55f32c2e" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Vergara posted photos</a> of herself and her best friends enjoying themselves in Capri, without Manganiello's presence. Additional concerns were raised when Manganiello posted a birthday tribute to Vergara with a simple caption of, "!!Feliz Cumplea&ntilde;os Sof&iacute;a!!!" While the birthday recognition was sweet, fans were quick to point out the lack of any words of endearment.
"At the start of Sofia&rsquo;s big birthday trip, those close to her were explaining away Joe&rsquo;s absence with the excuse that he was busy filming back on the East Coast; that excuse barely held up due to the writer&rsquo;s strike, but once the <a href="https://www.lofficielsingapore.com/culture/hollywood-actors-strike-sag-writers-union-red-carpet-cancelled" target="_blank" title="Hollywood is On Strike: What Does It Mean For Summer's Red Carpets?" rel="noopener">actor&rsquo;s strike</a> took effect, he could have been on the first flight&hellip; and he quite clearly is not," a source told Page Six. "So now no one out there with her is even attempting to pretend that it&rsquo;s not over. It&rsquo;s over. It&rsquo;s done."
According to sources who spoke to <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-12308297/Sofia-Vergara-Joe-Manganiello-SPLIT-Couple-announce-difficult-decision-divorce-seven-years-marriage.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the Daily Mail</a>, ultimately, the couple "had drifted apart due to their 'different attitudes' - after first bonding over being opposites."
"Joe is a big kid...[who] always loves being out and about and just having a good time," a source continued. "And then when it is time to be serious and when it is time to get to work, he turns on that part of himself."

Calling this behavior "an immediate attraction" for Vergara, sources stated that over time "the true versions of themselves started showing and they just got annoyed with each other, choosing work over hanging out."
"Then bit by bit, they stopped wanting to be together and stopped hanging out because something so little would often trigger an attitude that would bug them, just their attitudes on everything were completely different and something like that is extremely draining for a relationship and they got to the point where it would be a good day and one thing would be said or done and they would just get upset with each other," the insider said. "It added up to where now it is easier and more relaxing not being together. When people say they will be friendly, they will, but the romance part of things is over. They grew apart from something that could have been really good."
