The rock 'n' roll legend and the pop sensation join forces on a new single that fuses the '80s glam of "Edge of Seventeen" with today's soft rock spirit

In an extremely pleasant surprise, music legend Stevie Nicks has collaborated with <a href="https://www.lofficielsingapore.com/Culture/miley-cyrus-reveals-she-quit-her-vegan-diet-because-of-poor-health">Miley Cyrus</a>&nbsp;on a new song, &quot;Edge of Midnight&quot;, which dropped, appropriately, at midnight last Friday. A mashup of Cyrus&#39; recent single &quot;<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aS1no1myeTM">Midnight Sky</a>&quot; and Nicks&#39;&nbsp;1981 hit &quot;<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b5bgQjTmm3g">Edge of Seventeen</a>&quot;, the duet coherently blends &#39;80s rock with today&#39;s pop, and even opens with the iconic guitar intro of Nicks&#39;&nbsp;original track.

Back in August, Cyrus admitted on the <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OiSJA_Q5DgI">Zach Sang Show</a>&nbsp;that parts of&nbsp;&ldquo;Midnight Sky&rdquo; were an homage to Nicks, whom she has idolised for many years.

&quot;I actually had [&#39;Midnight Sky&#39;] blessed by Stevie Nicks, because there is a kind of nod to &#39;Edge of Seventeen&#39; in this song,&quot; Cyrus said. &quot;So I actually reached out to her directly about&nbsp;&mdash; &#39;This song, it has your spirit, your magic&#39;. I actually wrote this whole kind of message about, &#39;You know, the kind of artist I want to be is the kind of artist that you&#39;ve been for me. I just hope that I can be that for other people&#39;. And when I&#39;ve felt lonely, Stevie Nicks has been there for me, whether she&#39;s known it or not.&quot;

Nicks&rsquo; response? She reportedly told Cyrus&nbsp;that she &ldquo;could not be more flattered.&rdquo;

&quot;Midnight Sky&quot; is the lead single to Cyrus&#39; upcoming studio album, Plastic Hearts, due out on November 27. Arriving after the pop star underwent vocal cord surgery last year, the record will include 12 original songs alongside Cyrus&#39; live covers of &quot;Heart of Glass&quot; by Blondie and &quot;Zombie&quot; by the Cranberries.
