The last contribution by the late photographer for the French fashion house, the new two-volume book Dior / Lindbergh showcases never-before-seen images spanning 70 years of Dior history

Peter Lindbergh may have passed away earlier this year, but his legacy lives on. Besides an extensive collection of work&nbsp;spanning more than 4 decades, now a number of never-before-seen images captured by the renowned fashion photographer&nbsp;for Dior has been compiled into a two-volume coffee table book: Dior / Lindbergh. For this project, his signature verit&eacute; style illuminates more than 80 pieces from the maison&#39;s archive, worn by Lindbergh beauties like Alek Wek, Karen Elson, Freja Beha Erichsen, Amber Valletta, Sasha Pivovarova, and more.&nbsp;

Titled Dior / Lindbergh, the book is the last of his collaborations with Dior. The first volume, New York, sees 70 years of Dior history projected onto the urban jungle of Times Square, far from 30 Avenue Montaigne where the heart of the maison beats. &quot;His idea was to photograph 80 ensembles, representing the history of Dior, on the streets of New York,&quot; curator Martin Harrison explains in the book&#39;s introduction. &quot;This was both a masterstroke of recontextualisation and a crazy extravaganza. An unprecedented number of over a hundred priceless garments had to be removed from the Dior Museum, security-crated, and shipped to Manhattan.&quot;

The result is electrifying. Alek Wek is literally traffic-stopping in an original bar jacket from 1947, while a trio consisting of Selena Forrest, Felice Noordhof, and Sara Grace Wallerstedt cross a busy intersection clad in John Galliano&#39;s creations from the late 1990s. Designs by Marc Bohan, Gianfranco Ferr&eacute;, Raf Simons, and current creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri also feature.&nbsp;

The second volume is called Archive, and takes a look back at&nbsp;some of Lindbergh&#39;s greatest works for Dior. Collated from his archive as well as from numerous publications the world over, the tome is a tribute to one of the greatest photographers of the past century and to the unparalleled partnership between two pillars of the industry.&nbsp;
