The latest collection from Jimmy Choo both celebrates and manipulates nature

There&rsquo;s a touch of irony in that on the one hand an increasing number of brands have pledged to go fur-free, while on the other animal prints have roared back into popularity, seen everywhere across the runways and streets. For Jimmy Choo, animal prints have always been an intrinsic part of the brand&rsquo;s DNA, conveying the dynamism and boldness of a woman who isn&rsquo;t afraid to stand out.

The Spring/Summer 2020 collection heeds the call of the wild and re-energises heritage prints to create a heightened view of nature that is broadly familiar and yet sharply new. &ldquo;Nature is something to be respected and admired, but I want to push it into new arenas, to make it feel fresh and modern. Nothing is as it seems, everything is a fusion,&rdquo; says creative director Sandra Choi.

Zebra and leopard prints mark many of the shoe styles in the series, rendered here in monochrome patterns reminiscent of &lsquo;60s op art, and there in clashing combined prints enlivened by neon accents or crystal ornamentation. Crafted in a mix of pony hair and calfskin, the shoes give off a sense of confidence and daring. It&rsquo;s a jungle out there, after all. Check out some of the different styles below:

Sinuous snake prints slither over other styles, the undulating curves of the shoe straps imitating the slinky movements of the reptile that inspired them. Elsewhere, glitter, studs, and metallic finishes evoke another house code &ndash; the passion for sparkle, bringing glamour to the everyday.

Accessories also run with the animal theme, with signature shapes reimagined in bold big-cat spots, stripes, and snakeskin. The existing Varenne family of bowling bag, clutch, crossbody, and shoulder styles gets a new member with a tote silhouette. The Madeline takes on a serpentine feel with a new belt-bag that loops around the body like a python embrace, enhanced by the refreshed snaking &lsquo;C&rsquo; logo studded with rose quartz and malachite.

The aptly-named Bon Bon puts a scintillating spin on animalier graphics with shimmering golden scales&nbsp;and a bejewelled serpent intertwined with the top-handle. And the Callie evening bag and Cloud minaudi&egrave;re are reconsidered with elaborate embellishments of sequin scales and beaded fringes, the former finished with a metallic tassel and the latter crowned with a serpent ball clasp.
