The audio visual artist brings his paintings and onomatopoeic collages to the historic French house.

<a href="https://www.lofficielsingapore.com/fashion/celebrities-embrace-the-new-celine-by-hedi-slimane">Hedi Slimane</a> came in with a bang when he debuted his Spring 2019 collection for <a href="https://www.lofficielsingapore.com/fashion-week/celine-spring-2019-hedi-slimane-debut" target="_blank">CELINE</a>,&nbsp;polarizing his audience and inspiring Instagram accounts dedicated to the &quot;old&quot; Celine. However, what&rsquo;s making noise now&nbsp;is the availability of his collaboration with a fellow music aficionado, American/Swiss artist Christian Marclay:&nbsp;a&nbsp;loud, capsule inspired by vintage comic books.

Record executive and critic Tim Carr described the artist&#39;s work as one that is &ldquo;the art of unintended sound.&quot; Cutting up different vinyls and restitching them into completely new records, Marclay&rsquo;s practice is based on the manipulation of sound. Marclay, an early lover of punk music, acquired his interest in sound through performance art&nbsp;(see his 19883 Record Player). His 1995 &ldquo;Telephones&rdquo; is a 24-hour masterpiece of film clips featuring people answering the phone and communicating with one another.

His 2000&nbsp;performance art piece &ldquo;Guitar Drag&rdquo; captured a man strapping an electric guitar to the back of a pickup truck and dragging it in the middle of an open road. While it focused on the scratching sound the guitar made, it was also symbolic of the death of 49-year-old James Byrd Jr., a&nbsp;black man who was dragged to death by a pickup truck at the hands of three white supremacists.

The collection certainly doesn&rsquo;t whisper &mdash; it screams with Marclay&rsquo;s onomatopoeic collages, and artwork appearing on denim jackets, tee shirts, and bags to name a handful of what has been created.
