Virgine Viard's latest collection for Chanel is inspired by a Parisienne allure

Who is the <a href="https://www.lofficielsingapore.com/fashion/chanel-cruise-resort-2024-collection-looks-runway-photos-los-angeles-fashion" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Chanel</a> woman if not refined? Contrary to the late <a href="https://www.lofficielsingapore.com/fashion/penelope-cruz-fondest-memories-of-karl-lagerfeld-2023-met-gala-interview" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Karl Lagerfeld</a> who had an affinity for extravagant runway productions, Creative Director <a href="https://www.lofficielsingapore.com/fashion/karl-lagerfeld-successor-virginie-viard-chanel-2019" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Virginie Viard</a> keeps it more pared back, letting the garments speak for themselves. At least, this was certainly the case at the Chanel Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2023 show.
Unveiled on the riverbanks of the Seine, the collection was quintessential <a href="https://www.lofficielsingapore.com/fashion/chanel-metiers-d-art-22-23-fashion-show" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Chanel</a> &mdash; feminine with subtle masculine codes. Inspired by a Parisienne allure, Viard put forth a lesson on boldness and delicacy, showcasing a slew of structural silhouettes alongside fluid fabrics such as silk chiffon and organza. Though this was a fall collection, also taking center stage were the looks rendered in embroidered fruit and floral motifs &mdash; in which the case of the latter, the camellia flower has been a House code since the days of <a href="https://www.lofficielsingapore.com/fashion/superstitions-in-the-fashion-industry" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Coco Chanel</a>.
No haute couture show is complete without the finale bride, as the last model walked down the riverbank runway in a drop-waist white bridal dress styled with a veil and white block heels. The show celebrated the heritage of <a href="https://www.lofficielsingapore.com/fashion/prints-pleats-and-pumps-at-chanel-s-haute-couture-fall-winter-2023-show" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Chanel</a>&nbsp;and was a tribute to the many facets of the Parisienne, whilst honouring the modern Chanel woman.
