This year&rsquo;s recent Couture presentations delivered on intricacy as always, but what really caught the eye was the playful sartorial deceptions.

From Chanel to Dior and Fendi, Couture Week was a sight to behold. Trompe-l'&oelig;il, or to &ldquo;deceive the eye&rdquo; in French, was a consistent artistic theme that floated down the runways. Subtle hints of elevation and clever sleights-of-hand displayed the easy grandeur of Couture houses. Have a closer peek at some of the looks that had us taking a closer gander below.

Is she showing skin or not? Uncertainty might be Couture&rsquo;s best friend this season since sheer panelling has taken the runway by storm. Keep people guessing with these subtle meshes and jewelled numbers. Our favourite? Look 41 from Chanel&rsquo;s slinky &lsquo;30s-inspired line &ndash; a black- and sheer-striped gown in a mermaid silhouette, complete with an effortlessly elegant tulle skirt. The mindful, alternating panelling of the sheer and opaque black fabrics draws the eyes down the figure in a flattering way, highlighting the natural curves of the female form.&nbsp;

To achieve a &ldquo;barely-there&rdquo; effect, pick up some cues from the Couture runways. A range of neutral tones from ivory, sand to even camel made an extended appearance this season. Matching your dress to your exact skin tone has never been cooler, and if you don&rsquo;t believe us, take it from Fendi, who dressed their models in figure-hugging dresses that fit their natural shades seamlessly. The wide range of nudes acts as a grounding element, carrying with it Couture&rsquo;s natural ease and grace.&nbsp;

Nothing says "flirtatious" like showing whispers of skin, and Couture Week had us all on the hook with the array of cut-outs and strategically-placed slits. Leaving more to the imagination, these little details had us reading between the lines. You know the devil&rsquo;s in the details when Dior&rsquo;s &ldquo;Tree of Life&rdquo; collection featured intricate lace detailing that really led the eyes to wonder and wander. Feeling cheeky? This cut-out trend gives you the perfect opportunity to entice as you please, no matter the occasion.&nbsp;
