Meet the World's First Smart Jacket by Levi's & Google
Three years ago, when Google and Levi's first came together for a very special project, the idea of a smart jacket would have been considered unnecessary — strange, even. Today, the possibilities of wearable technology aren't written off so quickly, what with the fact that our smartphones, watches, home systems and household appliances are now embedded more seamlessly into our lives through technology.
That's why the Levi’s Commuter Trucker Jacket x Jacquard by Google is, naturally, the next step. Representing the ultimate in wearable technology (for now), the smart jacket looks like just like a classic trucker jacket, except that it consists of a circuit board attached to the cuffs and a removable bluetooth device.
Specifically tailored with the urban cyclist in mind, the Levi’s Commuter Trucker Jacket allows for a hassle-free commute. The Trucker Jacket connects to an app that lets you control your smartphone device by activating the garment's touch zones. With simple commands such as tapping, touching or scrolling, you can shuffle your music or share your location with Google Maps. In other words, the future is now.
The Levi's Commuter x Jacquard By Google Jacket is currently only available at selected Levi's stores in the US and online for $350 USD. Is it worth spending that amount of money on a tech jacket over, say, a Gucci accessory? Decide for yourself by watching the video below.
