What will our favourite designers and celebrities be wearing on the red carpet next year?

The Costume Institute of the&nbsp;Metropolitan Museum has finally&nbsp;revealed the theme of next year&#39;s highly-anticipated <a href="https://www.lofficielsingapore.com/fashion/met-gala-2018-best-dressed-fashion-on-red-carpet-rihanna-lana-del-rey-blake-lively-zendaya-bella-hadid">Met Gala</a> in New York: &quot;Camp: Notes on Fashion&quot;. The theme takes inspiration from&nbsp;the 1964 essay&nbsp;Notes on &quot;Camp&quot;&nbsp;by famous American writer Susan Sontag.

Andrew Bolt,&nbsp;Head Curator of the Costume Institute, <a href="https://www.vogue.com/article/costume-institute-2019-exhibition-camp-notes-on-fashion">describes</a>&nbsp;camp as something that &quot;has become increasingly more mainstream in its pluralities&mdash;political camp, queer camp, Pop camp, the conflation of high and low, the idea that there is no such thing as originality.&quot; He also elaborates&nbsp;that the theme&nbsp;embraces elements of &ldquo;irony, humor, parody, pastiche, artifice, theatricality, excess, extravagance, nostalgia, and exaggeration&rdquo;.&nbsp;

It&#39;s fitting, then, that <a href="https://www.lofficielsingapore.com/fashion/gucci-fall-winter-2018-bags-shoes-details">Gucci</a> creative director Alessandro Michele is one of the co-chairpersons for the annual charity ball next year, alongside Vogue US editor-in-chief Anna Wintour. The pair will be joined by stars&nbsp;<a href="https://www.lofficielsingapore.com/fashion/lady-gaga-gives-us-our-first-look-at-c%C3%A9line-by-hedi-slimane">Lady Gaga</a>, <a href="https://www.lofficielsingapore.com/fashion/gucci-cruise-2019-mens-campaign-harry-styles">Harry Styles</a> and&nbsp;<a href="https://www.lofficielsingapore.com/fashion/first-look-off-white-x-nike-the-queen-collection-serena-williams">Serena Williams</a>, all of whom will play host to the evening.&nbsp;

So mark your calendars:&nbsp;the Met Gala Ball will take place on Monday, May 6, 2019. The event will be followed by the opening of the&nbsp;&quot;Camp: Notes on Fashion&quot; exhibition at the Costume Institute, which will be on view at&nbsp;the museum&nbsp;until September 8, 2019.
