The Florentine luxury house announced today that the designer will step down as of May.


Paul Andrew,the British-born Salvatore Ferragamo creative director, will leave the house, which is in the midst of restructuring, in May.&nbsp;

&quot;After five years, with pride and a heavy heart, I&rsquo;ve decided it&rsquo;s time for a new challenge. In May, I will step down as Creative Director of Ferragamo. It&rsquo;s been a true honour to give new life to Salvatore&rsquo;s legacy, his genius design and ground-breaking innovation. I will always be grateful for this opportunity, and proud of the work I have accomplished,&quot; said Andrew in an <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CNZ6p0agFXG/">Instagram post.</a>&nbsp;

The British designer first assumed creative leadership of the women&#39;s footwear line in 2016,&nbsp;the first to hold the title.&nbsp;In 2019, he was&nbsp;appointed creative director of the luxury house, covering all product categories.

&ldquo;Salvatore Ferragamo thanks Paul Andrew for his passion&nbsp;and commitment&nbsp;and for his contribution to enhancing&nbsp;the position and creative vision of the&nbsp;house&rdquo;, commented Micaela le&nbsp;Divelec Lemmi, Chief Executive Officer&nbsp;of&nbsp;Salvatore Ferragamo in a press statement. The creative and design direction of Ferragamo will continue with the oversight of the existing in-house team.&nbsp;

Andrew was born in Berkshire, and worked for Alexander McQueen in London, before moving to New York to work for Donna Karen, Calvin Klein, and Narciso Rodriguez. During his tenure at Ferragamo, he dove deep into the house archives, reworking the founder&#39;s iconic shoe styles and collaging vintage prints. He also collaborated with director <a href="https://www.lofficielsingapore.com/fashion/salvatore-ferragamo-luca-guadagnino-spring-2021">Luca Guadagnino</a> for a <a href="https://www.lofficielsingapore.com/fashion/salvatore-ferragamo-s-spring-2021-collection-was-a-hitchcockian-fantasy">Hitchcockian-inspired film for Spring 2021.</a>
