The supermodel speaks up on her own experiences with racism and discrimination

<p>Naomi Campbell is a fashion legend in her own right. One of the original supermodels, Campbell broke boundaries as the first black model to grace many runways and magazine covers. But it wasn&#39;t easy for the London-born beauty. Campbell recently opened up on how she felt about the lack of diversity in the industry, saying she knows &quot;what it&#39;s like to be the token and it wasn&#39;t a good feeling to have to always be the only black model in a show of 70 girls&quot;, and calling the experience &quot;uncomfortable&quot;.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Despite the feeling of unease, she still agreed to do the shows, because if she didn&#39;t there would be no black faces. While she didn&#39;t want to call out people or brands, she said the truth will come out eventually on &quot;who is doing it for the token and who is doing it for real&quot;.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The model has always been honest about her experiences with racial discrimination, both inside and outside the fashion industry. Earlier this year, she revealed that she was barred from entering a hotel in southern France because of her skin colour.&nbsp;</p>
