Boucheron’s iconic Serpent Bohème gets a colourful makeover, and its new designs are begging to be stacked

A jewelry collection dedicated to the iconic Boucheron serpent, protective spirit and symbol of eternity. Delicately sculpted and polished, gold enhances the brilliance of diamonds.

Nearly 130 years ago, in 1888, an itinerant businessman presented his wife with a necklace shaped as a snake on the eve of one of his many trips. A protective talisman, a symbol of his love, that sinuous golden coil that Fr&eacute;d&eacute;ric Boucheron gave his wife Gabrielle would come to inspire the Place Vend&ocirc;me maison&rsquo;s Serpent Boh&egrave;me collection, launched in 1968.

The snakes in Boucheron&rsquo;s collection take a leaf from their chameleon cousin this year, nearly 50 years later, emerging in vivid new colours.

The drop, the Serpent Boh&egrave;me&rsquo;s most recognisable motif, was previously inset with several diamonds and outlined in a trail of beads in gold or platinum. Now, coloured gems and hardstones are the crown jewels. A single, faceted sparkling amethyst and citrine, deep blue lapis lazuli, inky onyx and luminous mother of pearl adorns the snake head that&rsquo;s joined to the iconic gently unfurling scales that smoothly cover the bands of rings and bracelets.&nbsp;

Necklaces and chain bracelets feature the signature twisted chain that adds a delicateness to the design, and this same braided coil is used on rings that are begging to be stacked. The collection, in white, yellow and rose gold, is perfect for the mix-match. Let a few pendant necklaces peek out from the collar of a tee, and throw on a long multi-drop necklace wrapped twice around the neck. Even the chunkier cocktail rings can be worn two a finger, letting the snakes kiss.
