When Bulgari first unveiled the Jannah High Jewellery collection in 2020, it made waves: Here was a storied Italian jeweller collaborating with a member of Middle Eastern royalty &mdash; namely, Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Hazza Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the granddaughter of the founder of the United Arab Emirates &mdash; to create a dazzling collection that brought together the best of Middle Eastern art and Roman design.
Now, the house continues the story of the Jannah collection with the release of several new creations. Riveted at the heart of the new additions a <a href="https://www.metmuseum.org/toah/hd/vege/hd_vege.htm">core motif in Middle Eastern art</a> &mdash; the five-petal flower.

The glitzy launch event was held at Bulgari's namesake resort in Dubai, and was attended by global ambassador Priyanka Chopra Jonas &mdash; who was also named the new face of the Jannah collection at the event &mdash; along with Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Hazza Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who created the Jannah collection alongside Bulgari's Creative Director of high jewellery, Lucia Silvestri.
Flowers are a central theme in many works of Islamic art, in part due to <a href="https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/0037768619894822">the practice of aniconism</a>. Experts say that in lieu of human or animal forms, artists would instead use flowers, calligraphy, or other stylised motifs in their works; the Victoria and Albert Museum in London notes that plant motifs and patterns were used in Islamic art "from the earliest Islamic period" &mdash; which makes it fitting that Bulgari makes the five-petaled flower the star of their newest creations.

The new pieces reimagine the sprawling floral mosaics that cover the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi. Here, the flower takes on a decidedly more urbane and graphic form, immortalised in a combination of 18k rose gold, mother-of-pearl, and diamonds on sautoir necklaces and charm bracelets alike.
Part of the proceeds from the collection will go towards the Fatima bint Hazza Cultural Foundation &mdash; Her Highness' personal charity &mdash; which aims to provide education to children, especially young girls, across the globe.
