Springing from the vivid Van Cleef &amp; Arpels gardens is a new Flora collection, Fleurs d&rsquo;Hawa&iuml;, from which petals in five coloured stones, precious gold leaves and diamond pistils bloom.

In the magnificent gardens of Dumfries House, a country house in Ayrshire, Scotland, <a href="https://www.lofficielsingapore.com/jewellery/van-cleef-arpels-alhambra-collection-blue-is-our-lucky-colour-jewellery-watches-style-accessories">Van Cleef &amp; Arpels</a>&nbsp; is revealing its new Fleurs d&rsquo;Hawa&iuml; collection to press who have gathered from around the world. Part of The King&rsquo;s Foundation, the alluring estate and 18th-century home is a most fitting venue. For one, the grounds are a heritage secret of Scotland &mdash; balancing patrimony and innovation expertly is an area Van Cleef &amp; Arpels excels in. Second, the vibrant pieces from the collection are so detailed that they closely imitate real life <a href="https://www.lofficielsingapore.com/jewellery/van-cleef-arpels-expands-the-rose-de-noel-collection">florals</a> &mdash; something the estate has plenty of. (The Maison is also a patron of The Prince&rsquo;s Foundation and plays a big part in preserving the rose garden at Dumfries House.)

Fleurs d&rsquo;Hawa&iuml; is nearly as colourful as the gardens that surround it, with earrings, clips, pendants, rings and secret watches bearing orangey-yellow citrine, deep pink rhodolite, purple amethyst, luminous aquamarine, or fresh green peridot. CEO of Van Cleef &amp; Arpels, Catherine R&eacute;nier tells L&rsquo;OFFICIEL SINGAPORE in Scotland how the new collection came to be. &ldquo;The idea was really to have a collection that is very colourful, and to have the petals as fine stones, in the spirit of the original collection from the late 1930s that had petals as well as more emerald-cut stones as petals,&rdquo; she says. The originals in question are the house&rsquo;s emblematic Passe-Partout transformable jewels from 1939, with bright floral compositions of yellow gold, aquamarines and rubies assembled on a Tubogas chain.

&ldquo;Here [on Fleurs d&rsquo;Hawa&iuml;], we have them pear-shaped. So we are changing the shape of the flower, making it a little thinner and giving it some dynamism. That&rsquo;s the evolution of the design. And, of course, the centre of the flower is stone-set with <a href="https://www.lofficielsingapore.com/jewellery/turquoise-adorns-van-cleef-arpels-perlee-novelties">gold beads</a> and diamonds. The diamonds enable the coloured stones to shine a lot more. And when you look at it, you want to really grab it and play with it. We have five colours &mdash; amethyst that is purple and very warm, aquamarine set on white gold for the delicacy of the blue and transparency, citrine in an orange matching the colour of the gold and that is very tone-on-tone, and peridot in a green with a natural link to the reality of nature and flowers,&rdquo; she adds.

Structurally, all the attention to detail that goes into these sparkling bouquets is as impressive as the precious pigmentation they bring. The pear-cut stones are raised and angled to give each floral corolla its &ldquo;light&rdquo; appearance, and the openwork structure of the gold lets rays dance through the stones to intensify their colours. Each blossom&rsquo;s pistil is also elevated slightly, with seven diamonds surrounded by another house signature: perfectly polished gold beads.

On the perpetual bloom of Van Cleef &amp; Arpels and how Fleurs d&rsquo;Hawa&iuml; is a natural extension of the Maison&rsquo;s flowering repertoire, R&eacute;nier says, &ldquo;I think that is a nice way to say it: perpetual bloom. It is our way of looking at nature, since day one [in 1906]. It is a very generous nature that is positive, it is a nature you want to grab and play with, and it has a very <a href="https://www.lofficielsingapore.com/jewellery/van-cleef-arpels-lucky-spring-collection-joyful-luxury-jewellery-bracelet-necklace-rose-gold">spring-like</a> feeling.&rdquo;

She adds, &ldquo;For Hawa&iuml;, it is the colours, and the very light presence of gold on the petals. These give proximity to the reality of the flower. It has been very much designed like this. So you see the petals and the details of the leaves and it gives you that blooming feeling and this naturalistic interpretation &mdash; because of the way the leaves are cut, the nice gold polish, and the lines drawn on it, it looks like a natural flower. One of the challenges of that, is to have this unique setting at the back, where the gold is there not just to protect the stone, but at the same time, not reduce the lightness of the petal from the front. You can wear Fleurs d&rsquo;Hawa&iuml; every day, and there is still a very light feeling &mdash; it is as close to blooming as possible.&rdquo;

Really flourishing where it has been planted, Fleurs d&rsquo;Hawa&iuml; is truly representative of Van Cleef &amp; Arpels, declares R&eacute;nier. &ldquo;This collection has a lot of signatures and creative elements that Van Cleef &amp; Arpels has always put forward. <a href="https://www.lofficielsingapore.com/jewellery/van-cleef-arpels-latest-treasure-island-high-jewellery-collection-diamonds-accessories">Transformability</a>, play with colours, [the] <a href="https://www.lofficielsingapore.com/jewellery/van-cleef-arpels-lucky-spring-collection-joyful-luxury-jewellery-bracelet-necklace-rose-gold">between the finger ring</a> [style], and attention to detail. It&rsquo;s quite meaningful already, in my opinion,&rdquo; she states.
