Discover the history and craftsmanship behind one of watchmaking&rsquo;s greatest design icons.

The Reverso was born in 1931 on the polo fields of India, with the novel idea of a case that could be flipped over to protect the watch during the sport. The revolutionary design transcended its utilitarian purpose when it was immediately embraced by fashionable trendsetters thanks to its Art Deco influences, propelling it to the style icon it is today.

&lsquo;Reverso Stories&rsquo; tells the tale of this design exemplar in watchmaking. The chapter opens with Origin, a multimedia installation by Korean digital media artist <a href="https://www.instagram.com/yiyun_kang/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Yiyun Kang</a>. Commissioned under Jaeger-LeCoultre&rsquo;s Made of Makers programme, the work is presented on a large three-dimensional public display, and is a tribute to the omnipresence of the Golden Ratio in the natural world, forming a narrative link to the Reverso&rsquo;s own divine proportions.

The main exhibition space delivers a compelling retrospective of the horological protagonist, from historic timepieces to modern-day models showcasing rare artistic crafts like miniature painting, enamelling, engraving and guilloch&eacute; work &mdash; revealing the Reverso as a true canvas for artistic expression. Novelties from the most recent Watches and Wonders fair in Geneva also make an appearance, culminating in the Reverso Hybris Mechanica &lsquo;Quadriptyque&rsquo;. The showstopper with four functioning faces is the most complicated Reverso ever created, combining 11 key complications and astronomical indications in one monumental wristwatch.

The tour ends with a stop at the 1931 Caf&eacute;, where visitors can take a moment to enjoy specially created beverages inspired by the flavours of Vall&eacute;e de Joux, home of Jaeger-LeCoultre, and delicacies by French pastry chef <a href="https://www.instagram.com/ninametayer/?hl=en" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Nina Metayer</a>, another alumnus of the Made of Makers programme.
