Continuing into his second year of partnership with the luxury watchmaker, Gyllenhaal models the new additions of the Santos de Cartier collection. 

Embodying both the curiosity and fearlessness of the Cartier&nbsp;values, the American actor-director has been named as the face of Santos de Cartier for 2019, being the watchmaker&#39;s choice to tell the tale of this legendary watch series.

Inspired by the legacy of aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont, the new collection sees three new watch models, the Santos-Dumont, the Santos de Cartier Chronograph and the Santos de Cartier Skeleton Noctambule.&nbsp;

The Santos-Dumont&nbsp;

Paying homage to the original 1904 model, the Santos-Dumont is fitted with an alligator leather strap, featuring Roman numerals, visible screws, a beaded winding crown and blue cabochon. Coming in a case in gold, gold and steel or all steel, it&#39;s iconic square shape perpetuates the heritage of this classic watch.&nbsp;

Bearing practicality in mind in this 2019 model, Cartier enhanced its ease of use by introducing a high-efficiency quartz movement with an autonomy of approximately six years &ndash; twice as long as traditional movements. To achieve this feat, the Cartier Manufacture reworked and resized the movement to reduce its energy consumption combining this with a new high-performance battery.

Santos de Cartier Chronograph

Made to measure records, the Santos de Cartier Chronograph pays attention to elegance and ergonomics with a lighter design featuring a single start/stop push button, with the reset function being directly integrated into the crown. The folding buckle has been enhanced for extra comfort, ease of use and security, all while retaining the iconic aesthetic. Straps for this model are available in steel, alligator leather or rubber.&nbsp;

Santos de Cartier Skeleton Noctambule

Flying at night was no easy feat for Alberto Santos-Dumont, who used a floodlight to light his way during test flights- same goes for the Santos de Cartier Skeleton Noctambule. Cartier casts light on the night sky with this brilliant watch, with its glow-in-the-dark bridges. Coated with Super-LumiNova&reg; pigments, which are invisible during the daytime, but radiate a lovely glow using the stored light when one steps into the dark.&nbsp;
