A must-visit event for art lovers and aficionados alike

Running&nbsp;for the eighth year,&nbsp;Affordable Art Fair (AAF) returns this month as the leading contemporary art event in Singapore. Taking place from 17 to 19 November at the F1 Pit Building, the autumn edition will showcase over 65 exhibitors from all over the world &ndash; and true to its name, majority of the art pieces will be priced under S$7,500.

2017 also marks the fair&rsquo;s consolidation into an annual event. The past four years saw two fairs taking place in April and November. From 2018, the fair will revert to being held yearly in November. Singapore was one of three cities that had a twice-yearly run, the other two being New York and Battersea, London.

Visitors can expect a mix of original contemporary artworks in many mediums and style by international, regional and local artists, such as Brisbane-based Lethbridge Gallery showcasing the works of Brett Lethbridge, Anne Marie Zanetti, and wood sculptor John Morris. New sections of AAF 2017 include a spotlight on first-time exhibitors and a series of new media installations, comprising of video, performance or digital art. Set to return is the popular Children&rsquo;s Art Studio, where children can experience sensory interaction with 3D art installations.

Seeking to educate local galleries, a series of talks on the &lsquo;Business of Art&rsquo; will also be conducted during the fair. During these sessions, the fair&rsquo;s Singapore team will share advice on how galleries can best market themselves, curate their spaces, and promote their artists.

Whilst awaiting AAF&rsquo;s return, art lovers may in the meantime check out the solo exhibitions of winners of the 2017 Young Talent Programme (YTP), an ongoing partnership between AAF Singapore and ION Art. YTP sees the works of emerging Southeast Asian artists exhibited every year at the AAF in November. After the fair, two to four artists will be handpicked to produce a solo show under the guidance of ION Art Gallery curator Seah Tzi-Yan.
