Sure, there are a number of notable luxury hotels surrounding Bangkok&rsquo;s 142-acre Lumphini Park, but you know there is something special about Andaz One Bangkok when you set foot in the property &mdash; it is a hotel with stories to tell. Like other Andaz properties, this hotel&rsquo;s design draws directly from its host city and immediate surroundings. Andaz One Bangkok is located on Wireless Road, which was once home to Thailand&rsquo;s first radio telegraph station &mdash; the hotel&rsquo;s entrance area is thoughtfully decorated with photographs of the station, as well as actual telegraphy relics that were sourced as finishing touches. Other key design references include the Thai mid-century movement, with the arches and curves of landmarks like the historic Vidyu Palace influencing the interiors of the property, while Bangkok&rsquo;s colourful streets and secret sois inspired the &ldquo;Vertical Neighbourhood&rdquo; layout of the hotel. Andaz One Bangkok has also chosen to champion Thai female artists, and one of the most stunning pieces here is by Textile artist, Ploenchan "Mook" Vinyaratn. Known for weaving sustainable materials into tactile art pieces, she created a vibrant hand-tufted carpet mural, which has become the centrepiece and photogenic backdrop of Andaz One Bangkok&rsquo;s lobby.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Most rooms, like the Andaz Suite I stayed in, offer calming views of Lumphini Park&rsquo;s verdant foliage. Their interiors are sophisticated and contemporary yet vivid, ornamented with deep green walls, orange carpets and chairs with mustard yellow cushioning. The outdoor infinity pool, located on the seventh floor, also overlooks Lumphini Park, and is the spot for great photographs during sunrise and sunset. Indoors, guests can enjoy the hotel&rsquo;s 24-hour Andaz Lounge, a space at the lobby with complimentary refreshments like iced Thai milk tea in the day, and cocktails in the evening. Being part of One Bangkok means that Andaz One Bangkok is conveniently linked to retail zones, and shopping, wellness and dining experiences such as Sarnies, Kaew Boutique, Club21 and Bhu Mhai are just a short stroll away.&nbsp;

Of course, there is no shortage of food and beverage options at Andaz One Bangkok. Andaz Terrace is an all-day al fresco lounge serving Asian-style treats and afternoon tea, while Jing, which means &ldquo;view&rdquo; in Chinese, functions as the property&rsquo;s casual Chinese restaurant and breakfast destination. Our choice for a memorable dinner: Piscari, found on the 23rd floor. The beautiful supper club-style space dishes out Mediterranean cuisine and houses a hidden speakeasy and a rooftop terrace for guests to capture golden hour. We tried the Octopus Croquette with Black Garlic, Grilled Tiger Prawns, Scallop Crudo, Grilled Octopus Leg, and Charcoal Grilled Australian Rib-Eye, savouring each dish while we watched the sun go down. What a sight to behold.
