Wish List: Dior Maison Collection, Les Gris-Gris de Monsieur Dior
Les Gris-Gris de Monsieur Dior, the new permanent Dior Maison collection, is decorated with four lucky symbols.
What do the star, bee, clover and rose have in common? Well, there are two things. First, they are all enchanting emblems of luck that were beloved by the late Monsieur Christian Dior. It is said that Dior always kept a metal four-leaf clover within his reach. Roses too were close to this heart for they enlivened his childhood in Granville. As for the star, a metal one on rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré caught Dior’s eye, ultimately leading him to open the Maison that year. And where the bee is concerned: In his memoirs, Dior wrote, “A little beehive, that is what my house was when I presented my first collection.” All of this brings us to the next shared attribute: The four symbols each decorate pieces that make up the new permanent Dior Maison collection, Les Gris-Gris de Monsieur Dior. Mugs, as well as dessert, dinner and side plates bear the meaningful motifs dear to the Maison’s founding-couturier.
