Ten years into his tenure at Dior Homme, Kris Van Assche referenced the past but looked to the future

10 years is&nbsp;a milestone certainly&nbsp;worth commemorating &ndash; even more so when it has been an incredible&nbsp;70 years since the revolution of&nbsp;Christian Dior&#39;s&nbsp;New Look.&nbsp;

After spending a decade as Creative Director,&nbsp;Kris Van Assche referenced the past but looked to the future to&nbsp;bring&nbsp;forth Dior Homme&#39;s Summer 2018 collection, presented at the Grand Palais last week. He named it&nbsp;&#39;Late Night Summer&#39; &ndash; an ode to the young men who represent the new generation of Dior Homme. Van Assche focused on&nbsp;the Dior&nbsp;DNA and presented&nbsp;studied deconstruction and reconstructions of the Dior Homme suit,&nbsp;from&nbsp;the&nbsp;sculpted ottomoin wool&nbsp;blazer in multiple varations to&nbsp;sleeveless gilets and&nbsp;bias-cut tailcoats. Collegiate elements were also fused with&nbsp;fine suiting to represent&nbsp;age on the brink of adulthood &ndash; think&nbsp;bomber sleeves on suit jackets and rosettes (made from ribbons&nbsp;with &#39;3 Rue de Marignan&#39; emblazoned on it) pinned to lapels.

Van Assache then segued into the second part of the narrative, presenting looks after looks that fused&nbsp;sport with suit. Striped knits,&nbsp;sweater vests, sweatshirts, varsity jackets, thigh-baring shorts,&nbsp;and skinny scarves jauntily thrown over one shoulder all lent a distinctly prep school&nbsp;vibe to the collection, while&nbsp;Fran&ccedil;ois Bard paintings of dark orchids and hooded figures injected flashes of&nbsp;cyan&nbsp;and yellow to the collection&#39;s palette of vermillon, burgundy, camel and sky blue.&nbsp;
