The label is the latest of luxury fashion brands joining the fight against the coronavirus

The coronavirus has caused <a href="https://www.lofficielsingapore.com/fashion/covid-19-all-cruise-collections-and-events-postponed">significant disruptions to the fashion calendar</a>, led to many store closures, and market freefall. Despite that, the luxury market has responded with major donations and initiatives to help fight the coronavirus.&nbsp;

Burberry has announced that in bids to contribute against the fight of COVID-19, they are making use of their global supply chain network to fast-track the delivery of 100,000 surgical masks to the UK National Health Service, for use by medical staff. They are also repurposing their trench coat factory in Castleford, Yorkshire, to make non-surgical gowns and masks for patients in UK hospitals.&nbsp;

In addition, the British label is funding research into a single-dose vaccine developed by the University of Oxford, with one of the world&#39;s best track records in emergency vaccine development, and its COVID-19 vaccine is on course to begin human trials next month.

In a community effort, Burberry is also donating to charities that are dedicated to tackling food poverty across the UK, including FareShare and The Felix Project, in response to the increasing pressure of food suplies for those in need during the coronavirus outbreak.&nbsp;

&nbsp;&ldquo;COVID-19 has fundamentally changed our everyday lives, but we hope that the support we provide will go some way towards saving more lives, bringing the virus under control and helping our world recover from this devastating pandemic. Together, we will get through this,&quot; says&nbsp;Marco Gobbetti, CEO, Burberry in a press release.&nbsp;

The Zegna family, together with top management, have pledged personal donations to the Civil Protection in Italy totaling 3 million Euros, which will go towards supporting the nurses, doctors, scientists and voluntees across Italy who have been working to fight the epidemic.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The Italian luxury menswear brand,&nbsp;Ermenegildo Zegna,&nbsp;will also convert part of its production facilities in Italy and Switzerland to the manufacturing of medical masks, that will provide critical supplies to both Zegna&#39;s employees and to the wider needs in Italy and Switzerland. They have also made direct financial contributions to provide several hospitals with ventilators and medical masks.&nbsp;

&ldquo;At Zegna we believe our actions today will shape our tomorrow. The pandemic we are all facing is a call for people around the world to take action. Each of us must do our part, in every way possible, to stop this global emergency&rdquo;, says Gildo Zegna, CEO in a press release.

Luxury fashion brand, Moncler,&nbsp;announced this week by Remo Ruffini, Chairman and CEO of Moncler, that the label will&nbsp;donate 10 million euros to support the construction of a hospital for the heavily impacted region of Lombardy, Italy. The hospital will hold 400 care units in Milan and will be dedicated to patients testing positive for COVID-19.

Italian fashion every day increasingly engages in new actions put in place by companies in the sector to defeat the health emergency linked to COVID-19. 
 
Among the many Made in Italy brands, this time it is the turn of the Prada Group that has decided to take the field in the battle against the coronavirus, providing concrete and immediate support to the work of doctors. In this state of emergency the group&#39;s managing directors, Miuccia Prada and Patrizio Bertelli and the president Carlo Mazzi , donated a total of 6 complete intensive care and resuscitation stations to the Vittore Buzzi , Sacco and San Raffaele hospital in Milan.

Following the donations of the Italian brands also Santoni who decided to involve the entrepreneurs of the Marche to give concrete support and further support the territory by strengthening the intensive care units of the local health facilities, to assist and treat the Coronavirus positive population.
