It's been a long time since Dior's haute couture stage has been so crowded. The presence of the audience gave Maria Chiuri a special feeling of connection.

Using cashmere as the main material combined with handcrafted methods such as braiding, twisting, and embroidery, Chiuri delivers a cultural display of Dior&#39;s high-end tailoring spirit. High fashion, for Chiuri, clearly has a certain dependence on the cultural stories hidden deep within each layer of materials that the fashion House uses, as well as not to mention, the artisans behind it. Hundreds of hours of meticulous sewing.

Dior&#39;s Haute Couture this year emphasizes more casual wear, in addition to the brand&#39;s indispensable flowing pleated party or evening dresses. Perhaps that is the answer to the question: What is the future of haute couture? While flashy parties are still hard to come by in this era,&nbsp;casual wear&nbsp;created with a masterful degree of craftsmanship is the answer by Dior.

Under every layer of clothing Dior offers this season are layers of meanings woven by artisans through the material, from head-to-toe grey tweed outfits to coloured cashmere wool outfits:&nbsp;camels, see-through sheer fabrics, and incredibly, meticulously tailored dresses. All tell a story when people were free to walk among fields, deserts, vast spaces, and now, all we can do is go around between four walls and feel separate from the world.&nbsp;When natural disasters affect us the most, it is also the time to stand together, shake hands, and maintain that connection like wool and thread tightly packed together on a cloth.

Looking at the landscape painting on the wall by the French contemporary artist Eva Jospin, one can see that Chiuri wants to show solidarity with India. Each stitch of the painting is done by students of the Indian Embroidery School, which Christian Dior has supported to encourage young women to learn and grow over the past few years.

The subtlety of the fairy-like flowing dresses in this collection also bring Chiuri back to Italy, the birthplace of romanticism. Semi-transparent, delicately pleated and curvaceous, semi-thick, loose-fitting or light-waisted create interesting contrasts. Sophistication is hidden in the twisted layers, sometimes entirely by hand from silk threads, sometimes using available materials. But either way, that &quot;sustainability&quot; is also a way for Chiuri to express the importance of &quot;we will always be connected&quot;.
