Jonathan Anderson's latest Dior haute couture collection blends nature, sculpture and fluid craftsmanship.

Gone was the energetic soundtrack of the menswear presentation. Instead, guests were immersed in the sounds of a tropical rainforest, accompanied by calming, meditative music. Set within the Tuileries Gardens, the runway was transformed into a lush woodland clearing lined with towering tree ferns, creating an atmosphere that perfectly reflected a collection inspired by nature, movement and art.
For this season, Anderson looked to the work of American sculptor Lynda Benglis, whose experimental approach to form and material revolutionised contemporary sculpture in the late 1960s. Best known for her fluid sculptures and celebrated poured paintings, Benglis challenged conventional ideas of shape and structure. Her influence runs throughout the collection, with pleated, draped, twisted and moulded fabrics behaving less like garments and more like living sculptures in constant motion.
The connection is clear from the opening look. A pleated gold headdress, finished with a delicate cage veil, recalls the metallic yet organic qualities found in Benglis's work. Similar headpieces appear throughout the collection in shimmering silver and soft gold finishes, evoking everything from corrugated metal to delicate leaves caught in the breeze.

Beyond its artistic inspiration, the collection also reflects a new philosophy of couture for Anderson. That mindset also means accepting that couture continues to evolve long after it leaves the atelier. Pleats gradually soften, embroidery becomes more supple and structured silhouettes naturally relax over time. Rather than resisting these changes, Anderson celebrates them as part of each garment's life.
This philosophy is reflected in the collection's construction. Instead of relying on the rigid foundations traditionally associated with haute couture, such as crinolines and whalebone, Anderson strips everything back. Knotted jackets, softly draped trousers and dresses held together with seemingly effortless hand stitches create silhouettes that feel light, fluid and beautifully human.
Perhaps nowhere is this clearer than in Anderson's reinterpretation of the Arizona Coat, originally created by Christian Dior in 1948. While the original design depended on an intricate internal structure, Anderson achieves the same dramatic volume through carefully engineered pleats alone. Without a hidden framework, the coat remains strikingly sculptural, with movement becoming its defining feature.
Nature weaves through every aspect of the collection. Floral embroidery, fern-inspired motifs and richly textured fabrics sit alongside shimmering metallic finishes and iridescent details. Dior's iconic Bar jacket returns in lavishly embroidered versions, while the Petit Dîner and Mini Lady Dior bags are reimagined using vintage Indian chintz and printed textiles, a subtle reference to Benglis's long-standing connection to Ahmedabad.

The accessories continue the conversation between fashion and sculpture. Taking inspiration from Alexander McQueen's legendary Armadillo Boots, Anderson introduces a playful armadillo-shaped clutch. Believed to reference Benglis's 1990 sculpture Scarab, the design injects a welcome sense of humour into the collection. If it follows the success of the viral Pigeon Clutch he created for JW Anderson, this charming accessory could become one of the season's most sought-after pieces.
As tradition dictates, the show concluded with a bridal look. Crafted from sheer fabrics, delicate lace and intricate floral embroidery with fern-like detailing, the gown embodied the collection's light, romantic spirit. It also marked Anderson's second wedding dress in the space of a few days, following reports that he designed the gown for the much-talked-about wedding of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce.
With each collection, Jonathan Anderson continues to reshape Dior's heritage with quiet confidence. Rather than abandoning the house's defining codes, he softens and modernises them, allowing them to breathe in new ways.
