Sixty years since its first Bird on a Rock brooch was designed, Tiffany &amp; Co. gets our hearts aflutter with two new high jewellery suites, and the first Bird on a Rock by Tiffany fine jewellery collection.

Two weeks ago, we took to the air and landed in <a href="https://www.lofficielsingapore.com/jewellery/tiffany-co-takes-legendary-legacy-a-tiffany-co-exhibition-to-bangkok">Bangkok to join Tiffany &amp; Co.</a> in celebrating one of its most recognised icons, the house&rsquo;s beloved Bird on a Rock, which was designed some 60 years ago by one of the 20th century&rsquo;s most celebrated artists, <a href="https://www.lofficielsingapore.com/jewellery/tiffany-co-botanica-blue-book-2022-high-jewellery-summer">Jean Schlumberger</a>. A veritable emblem of hope and optimism, the Bird on a Rock&rsquo;s first iteration saw a yellow and white diamond version of the brand&rsquo;s feathered friend perched on a cabochon lapis lazuli &mdash; the perfect brooch, ingeniously positioning a precious cockatoo on an equally dazzling gemstone.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Of course, the house&rsquo;s Jean Schlumberger moment in Thailand wasn&rsquo;t just about giving a nod to the Bird on a Rock past, as significant as that may be. For the first time in six decades, Tiffany &amp; Co. has reenvisioned the signature, birthing a new <a href="https://www.lofficielsingapore.com/jewellery/tiffany-co-blue-book-2023-out-of-the-blue-high-jewelry-collection">high jewellery</a> and fine jewellery collection, offering necklaces, earrings and pendants. For the high jewellery designs, Chief Artistic Officer of Jewelry and High Jewelry Nathalie Verdeille let naturalist inspirations soar &mdash; the house observed birds just as Schlumberger did, meticulously studying their posture and plumes, the structures of their wings &mdash; to create forms that accurately depict a cockatoo fluttering and perching. The collection is composed of two high jewellery suites &mdash; one celebrates tanzanites, a gemstone closely associated with the house since 1968, and the other features turquoise, which is a move considered to be a tribute to Schlumberger, who was known to use the gemstone in high jewellery. The former consists of a necklace, bracelet and earrings, while the latter includes a statement necklace, a pendant, a brooch, and a ring.

On the more sculptural fine jewellery collection, Verdeille examined the creature of the skies with a different approach &mdash; figural designs portray a bird or two in flight, while abstract Bird on a Rock by Tiffany Wings styles interpret the animal&rsquo;s wing, turning its feathers into a sophisticated pattern that displays diamonds with hidden settings. The versatility of the latter range may surprise you &mdash; made for stacking (many birds are social, after all), one piece&rsquo;s scalloped border glides without friction aside the feather-shaped form of another. Another key design, the articulated earrings, allow the wearer to enjoy four varied looks, which range from discreet studs to dramatic drops. Describing the first ever Bird on a Rock fine jewellery pieces, Verdeille says, &ldquo;These sculptural forms intertwine and unfold in textural creations that are as abstract as they are symbolic.&rdquo;
