The beloved romantic classic will be performed at the Esplanade Theatre for the first time

Drama, romance, and mystery: the glorious romantic&nbsp;ballet, Giselle,&nbsp;left its mark in history with a combination of all three&nbsp;with its debut for the Paris Opera Ballet in 1841. Almost two centuries later, the Singapore Dance Theatre has revived the iconic ballet to celebrate 30 years of tradtional and modern choreography. From 12 to 15 April,&nbsp;Giselle will grace the halls of the Esplanade Theatre for the very first time.&nbsp;

Giselle&nbsp;takes it audience through two acts that tell the thrilling and&nbsp;heartbreaking tale of doomed love between a nobleman and a peasant girl. Delving into the depths of human emotions, the ballet features&nbsp;the original choreography by&nbsp;Jules Perrot and Jean Coralli and is set against a rich and haunting score composed by&nbsp;Adolphe Adam.

Referred to as &quot;the Hamlet of ballets&quot;, this is certainly not a performance you&#39;ll want to miss. The Singapore Dance Theatre first brought the ballet to our shores in 1999 where it was presented in several seasons. The staging of the ballet has since&nbsp;been revamped over its performance history. When the curtains are finally drawn on Thursday evening, expect a haunting presentation of dark gothic scenes, impeccable dance techniques&nbsp;and, above all, captivating beauty.
