The robot handles thin rugs and slight changes in floor height with ease but avoids wires and raised edges by design. It navigates confidently around tables and chairs, though I found it worked best when rugs were rolled up and it could focus solely on hard floors. One clever detail is the wet roller, which shifts sideways to clean flush against walls and edges. It&rsquo;s a small touch, but one that noticeably improves results.
What impressed me most is how the robot improves over time. We named ours &ldquo;Dylan&rdquo; and joked that it needed to learn. And it did. The first few cleaning cycles were good, but not perfect. Targeted cleaning via the app works well if an area needs extra attention. Over time, I noticed the grout between my tiles starting to lift and lighten, which suggests the robot cleans more deeply with repeated passes.
After each cycle, the robot returns to its cyclonic, bagless dock. Dry debris is separated from dirty water, each stored in its own container, both easy to remove and clean. The wet roller continuously cleans itself with fresh water as it rotates, helping prevent odours and streaking. There&rsquo;s also a dedicated slot for floor cleaner at the dock, allowing the machine to dispense the correct amount automatically during each wash.

Privacy, AI and Dyson&rsquo;s Long-Term Vision

Watching the robot navigate using its camera and green LED is oddly fascinating. Importantly, Dyson has prioritised privacy. The camera does not record images or video. It recognises shapes and objects only, meaning it cannot be used for surveillance in your home. Even in the unlikely event of a security breach, there would be no visual data to exploit. Even as an AI sceptic, I&rsquo;m impressed. The Dyson Spot+Scrub&trade; Ai Robot won&rsquo;t replace deep cleaning entirely, but it significantly reduces the burden of everyday chores. For busy households, families or anyone living alone, it offers genuine, practical help.
It&rsquo;s smart, well thought out and genuinely useful. And sometimes, that&rsquo;s exactly what technology should be.
